Terms of Service

Last updated November 6, 2026

These terms cover your use of the HOT HEN FLOCK KEEPERS website and membership ("HOT HEN FLOCK KEEPERS", "we", "us"). By creating an account or buying a membership, you agree to them.

The service

HOT HEN FLOCK KEEPERS is an educational podcast, library and set of tools about raising, breeding and caring for backyard chickens and other poultry. Content is general information, not veterinary or legal advice. Always follow your local laws, including rules on keeping poultry where you live, and consult a veterinarian about your birds' health.

HOT HEN FLOCK KEEPERS does not promote, support or provide information for animal fighting or any other illegal activity, and members may not use the service for that purpose.

Classic books

Classic Books are older public-domain poultry books, offered for their history and the experience of the keepers who wrote them. Some of their advice is out of date and is not a substitute for current veterinary or university guidance.

Accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Keep your password private; you're responsible for activity on your account. One membership is for one person; please don't share your login.

Free trial and paid memberships

New accounts receive a free 7-day trial with no payment details required. The trial includes a sample of the service. Paid memberships are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor, Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from My account; access continues to the end of the period you've paid for. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal.

Products

Products sold in our shop are described on their own pages, including any directions and warnings on the label. Supplements are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Follow the label, and ask your veterinarian before giving anything to a sick bird.

Health information

The Health Guide, episodes, e-letters and Ask a Pro answers are general educational information drawn from published veterinary, university extension and USDA sources. They are not a diagnosis or veterinary advice, signs of different diseases overlap, and a photo or description can't diagnose your bird. For a sick or dying bird, call a poultry veterinarian. Only give medicine as the label or your veterinarian directs, and follow egg and meat withdrawal times. Sudden deaths in a flock should be reported to your state veterinarian or the USDA at 1-866-536-7593.

AI features

Ask a Pro answers and the What's My Chicken Eating? feed scans are produced by artificial intelligence. Ask a Pro is an AI set up to answer like an experienced flock keeper; it is not a person and not a veterinarian. AI can be wrong, so check important decisions with a qualified professional. Read-aloud answers use an AI-generated voice. Questions, photos and videos you submit to these features are processed by our AI service providers (see the Privacy Policy).

Content and conduct

All episodes, transcripts, eBooks and e-letters are owned by HOT HEN FLOCK KEEPERS or its licensors and are for your personal use. Don't copy, resell or redistribute them. To protect members' content, downloaded PDFs and members-only pages show the email address of the account they were opened with. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Photos and copyright

Photos from other sources are credited where they appear, with their license. If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, contact us with the page and the work involved and we'll review it promptly.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. You are responsible for the care of your own birds and for following the laws where you live. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including the loss of birds, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will post the new date above. Questions? Use our contact form.
